OUT OF HARM'S WAY

"Building resilience entails identifying and investing in places and infrastructure that are the most likely to endure."  This page contains information and commentary dedicated to keeping people and communities "Out of Harm's Way" by highlighting best practices for planning safer human habitation in the face of natural, climatic, geologic and man-made hazard events.

CONNECTIONS

"You need to feel you belong. You need to feel you have a future that makes sense. Our culture is good at lots of things, but we have been getting less and less good at meeting those deep underlying psychological needs" for connections. This page contains my thoughts, and those of many others, on the goals and values we share and suggestions for ways we might work together to face the challenges of life.  It is my hope that we can learn to focus on what unites us, rather than what divides us, and... find common ground.

RE/BUILDING THE CAMPUS

Challenges for campus planners and capital budget officers intensify in an environment of constrained budgets, rising construction costs and increased demand. This page reports on practices that tend to achieve the best results in the most cost-effective ways. I also try to add my perspective as someone currently working with a wide variety of different institutions as part of a multi-campus system.
